South American Wines

This is the time of the year when Valentine’s Day takes the stage. However, there are no real Valentine wines – only those wines not sold during the holidays that either the distributor or retailer needs to move now. I suspect the same is true for chocolates.
But, more important, February is a good time to consider some wines that have been truly neglected, especially in the North Florida market. I’m talking about excellent South American wines. More specifically, wines from Chile and Argentina!
I call it neglect. The truth is Chile and Argentina, along with their respective producers and suppliers, simply have not aggressively marketed their products here in the US.
Secondly, and forgive me, but the North Florida market is just not extremely sophisticated. For the most part, North Florida looks at wines that are mass produced and consequently have mass appeal: the table wine category.
